Conclusion

In this paper, we have presented a novel method for the detection of corners. Unlike most corner detectors, it also estimates the orientation of the structures associated with each corner. The same method works well with junctions. The information extracted from an image are essential 2D features. Knowing the orientation of corners and junctions as well as their position should facilitate the higher-level processes of image understanding. Indeed, this information provides important clues for the effective interpreting and grouping of low-level image features.
